Regular Vacuuming Tips

Vacuuming is the most critical step in carpet care. Be sure to vacuum often in high traffic areas to rid your carpets of dry soil. Dry soil is detrimental to carpet fibers and will lead to premature carpet deterioration. It's best to vacuum three times a week to maximize the lifespan of your carpets. Also, be sure to replace your vacuum bag regularly.

Stain Removal Guide

Ink Stains

All excess ink should be absorbed by plain, white paper towels. Using an Acetone-based nail polish remover, blot the stain. Making sure to not pour, blot the stain with dry cleaning fluid that's non-flammable. Subsequently blot with a mixture of 1 tsp. hand washing liquid and 1 c. warm water and blot with a white towel. Blot with 2 tbs. of household ammonia and lukewarm water and then again with a solution of white vinegar and warm water. Finally, lay down white paper towels on the area and place a heavy object on top of the towels. You may remove the towels the next day.

Blood Stains

After blotting the stain dry, you can use 2 tablespoons of household ammonia and warm water. If this doesn't completely remove the bloodstain, you can try using hydrogen peroxide and warm water. Be aware that hydrogen peroxide may bleach out carpet fibers. Use a heavy object to weigh down white paper towels to protect the area for 24 hours.

Oil Stains

First blot with non-flammable dry cleaning fluid. Then blot with a solution of 1tsp. liquid hand washing detergent and 1 c. warm water. After that, blot with 2tbs. of household ammonia and 1 c. warm water. Use a heavy object to weigh down white paper towels to protect the area for 24 hours.

Ketchup Stains

First clean up excess residue. Place a damp, white towel to the stain and weight with a heavy object over night. The next day you can remove any additional residue. Blot with warm water and hand dishwashing detergent solution. Next blot with 1 c. white vinegar and 2c. water. Blot with a damp, white towel, first and then a dry, white towel.

Chewing Gum in Carpets

Fill a plastic bag with ice cubes apply to the chewing gum until it hardens and can be removed. Cut out any minor remnants. If there is still some gum left, blot with a non-flammable dry cleaning fluid. Scrape up any remaining residue. If there is still remaining gum, blot again with dry cleaning fluid.
